HOW TO MAKE IT ENDURE

After years of research, we all reach a point where we have to stop and think about what is going to happen to all of our work when we are no longer able to protect it.

We are then faced with:

●	Entrusting it to our family who may or may not appreciate the long-term value of our years of work, and don’t know what to do with it.
●	Giving your research papers, folders, disks, all of it to a body who will protect it – a library, a professional body, a history group, the local Council (depending on the topic) – where it will be archived – and maybe, just maybe, accessed in the future.
●	Publishing your research in a PERMANENT form, recorded as a published work and catalogued internationally.

If you want to publish, how big is your readership?? - will your book attract only a specialised readership (3,000 copies or even 500 copies or less) If so, commercial publication may not be an option.

SELF-PUBLISHING has the advantage that you keep control of your book and its destiny. Once printed, you OWN it. You can decide to give it away, or market and sell it, or use it as part of an educational or other package.

You set your own selling price to suit your special market. Once sales have reimbursed your production and other costs, any and all profit is then yours alone.

SO – HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT IT?

BASIC SERVICES
All book production will require:

●	Checking the manuscript for text page layout, spelling, and typographical editing.
●	Converting the manuscript to the computer format required by current printing technology – setting page sizes and margins to ensure accuracy and cost-effective production, binding and trimming.
●	Coordinating the book production and referring galleys/ proofs for the author/ self-publisher to approve, and preparing pre-press and print specifications.
●	Managing the printing and delivery on your behalf.

OPTIONAL/ SPECIAL SERVICES

Each author has different needs and each book is unique. We offer any and all of these additional services as you need them:

1.	Computer entry of your handwritten or typed manuscripts or dictation transcription.
2.	Design a unique book layout to suit your type of publication or match your chosen style.
3.	Scan illustrations and photographs you provide – oversee Copyright issues.
4.	Source illustrations, maps – Design family trees etc.
5.	Work with our Graphic Designers to prepare a concept and typeset for the Cover illustration for you to consider.
6.	Creation of Back cover marketing text.
7.	Create a Table of Contents and/or Index.
8.	Edit your book for structure and grammar.
9.	Arrange registration of your ISBN International Standard Book Number) and CiP Cataloguing in Publication) and attend toLegal Deposit requirements.
10.	Provide marketing or advertising suggestions, book launch ideas.
11.	Support with your book launch.
12.	Arrange reprints on request.

●	Cover type – hardcover or softcover – the number of colours used, & binding style.
●	The level of our involvement and the additional/optional services you decide you need from us to produce your book.
●	GST is applicable on the goods/ services used to produce your book.
