A Family History by Leslie Francis Watters

ELIZABETH RAFFERTY IN SYDNEY'S THE ROCKS and her Bostock Legacy

This family history builds on research done by the author's cousin, Thelma Birrell, published in 1993, and tells the story of Elizabeth Rafferty, an Irish convict who arrived on the Britannia in 1797, already pregnant to its Captain - the first of three mariners to play an important part in her life in the Colony of New South Wales.

We trace her from her conviction in Dublin in 1795 until 1822 when she disappears from the records - her relationships, her success in business in The Rocks, and her properties in Vaucluse and Parramatta - and then tell the story of her daughter, Rachael Rhodes-Walker, and her Bostock descendants.

Includes a chart tracing the author's Bostock ancestry through 7 generations to Elizabeth Rafferty.
